29 May - 6 June – ‘Feis Ile’ Islay Festival of Malt & Music

Founded by the local people of Islay in 1986 to celebrate the heritage and culture of Isle of Islay, ‘Feis Ile’ provides a pan cultural and activity based series of events.

Islay has a wealth of musical talent which is very much in evidence at the ceilidhs. Mainland artistes are also brought to the island for the festival week. Since 2000 Feis Ile has been run in conjunction with the distilleries of Islay and Jura and Port Ellen Maltings. Each distillery has its own open day, putting on special events.

With concerts, ceilidhs, children's shows, distillery open days, guided walks and sporting events – there’s something for everyone.

16 July - 29 July The Classic Malts Cruise

The Classic Malts Cruise is for many the 'must do' event in Scotland's sailing year. United by a passion for sailing, scenery and single malt whisky, crews embark on a 200-mile voyage through the Inner Hebrides, choosing their own route from Oban to Skye, and back south to Islay. Hospitality offered by the coastal Classic Malts distilleries of Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin provides the social focus for a relaxed fortnight of cruising. The simple formula has proved to be very successful: tremendous sailing and great fun! All crews are welcomed ashore as guests of the distilleries, for barbeques, music, dancing and, of course, for a chance to meet those whose lives are spent making Scotland's finest whisky.

16 - 18 September – Islay Black Bottle Jazz Festival

The Islay Jazz Festival is an extraordinary and totally unique event - a Jazz Festival which presents the best jazz you can hear anywhere in Scotland in the most unusual, atmospheric and inspirational venues. The whole of the Hebridean island is the backdrop for a Festival which takes in distilleries, bird sanctuaries, stately homes, village halls, a gaelic college, and even the Internet Café in Port Ellen.

Black Bottle, the only blended whisky to contain all seven of the island's single malts, continues to sponsor the Festival and the organisers are delighted that the new owners of the brand, Burn Stewart Distillers, are totally committed to supporting the Festival. Black Bottle will be continuing the Festival tradition of offering a sample of their wonderful blend as audiences arrive at most concerts.
